Fire now under control

The London Fire Brigade says the blaze in Chalk Farm is now under control.

"Crews will remain on scene for the remainder of the afternoon, working hard to fully extinguish the fire," it adds.

No reports of injuries, fire brigade says

A short update to bring you from the London Fire Brigade.

It says that, at the height of the fire, a single storey commercial building and most of a neighbouring property were alight. Part of both buildings remain on fire, it adds.

There are currently no reports of any injuries.

Where is the fire?

London Fire Brigade said the ongoing fire broke out at a commercial property on Regent's Park Road in Camden.

The building appears to be on the former site of Primrose Hill railway station, which closed in 1992.

Chalk Farm underground station lies a stone's throw away from the site of the fire.

Police have closed the nearby Adelaide Road as emergency crews tackle the blaze.

What routes are affected?

Four rail operators are facing disruption to their services due to the ongoing fire.

They are:

  • Avanti West Coast between London Euston and Birmingham New Street / Crewe / Chester / Holyhead / Liverpool Lime Street / Manchester Piccadilly / Lancaster / Glasgow Central / Edinburgh
  • London Northwestern Railway between London Euston and St Albans Abbey / Tring / Milton Keynes Central / Birmingham New Street / Crewe
  • London Overground between Richmond / Clapham Junction and Stratford (London), between London Euston and Watford Junction, and also between Gospel Oak and Barking Riverside

Images are now coming through of the commercial building on fire in Camden.

Plumes of smoke can be seen coming from the building, which sits on top of several rail lines and next to Regent's Park Road Bridge.

Major disruption expected until 3pm - with cancellations possible

National Rail has provided an updated timetable as emergency services respond to the fire.

Major disruption is expected across Avanti West Coast, London Northwestern Railway, Southern and London Overground services until 3pm, it says.

Some services may be cancelled, severely delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised due to the disruption.

Some train lines reopen but delays still expected

Avanti West Coast says some of its train lines have reopened.

Services were disrupted after fire broke out near Chalk Farm station.

"Residual delays are expected due to congestion on the network," it adds.

Road closed as crews tackle fire

Cause of fire not yet known

The London Fire Brigade says it first received calls of the blaze at 9.31am and quickly mobilised crews from Kentish Town, Holloway and West Hampstead fire stations to the scene.

It says half of the building is alight and the cause of the fire is not yet known.

There are now ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters tackling the fire.

One of the Brigade's 32-metre turntable ladders is being used at the scene to help fight the fire from above, it adds.
