The D-Day torch has been lit in Whitehall to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak began the relay of a Torch of Commemoration which will mark the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings which occurred on 6 June 1944. The torch will travel across the UK before crossing to Normandy, France.
