Russian forces withdraw to Tartus in northern Syria

A convoy of Russian military vehicles was seen travelling from Latakia towards the city of Tartus. Russian troops have withdrawn from some parts of Syria following the collapse of Assad's regime.

In 2017 the Assad regime agreed a deal with Russia to give them a free lease of both the Hmeimim airbase and the Tartus naval base for 49 years.
