Global warming: 2023 was the hottest year on record, say scientists

Last year was about 1.48C warmer than the long-term average before humans started burning large amounts of fossil fuels, the EU's climate service says. Man-made climate change and the El Nino weather pattern are being blamed for the rising temperatures.
