Mr Lukashenko said Wagner mercenary fighters had "army and war experience" that would benefit the Belarusian armed forces. Following Yevgeny Prigozhin’s abortive march towards Moscow last weekend, he apparently offered the mercenary leader safe sanctuary in exile.
