Alabama execution: Prisoner 'struggled for minutes' before death
Convicted murderer Kenneth Smith, 58, was put to death using the new technique after the US Supreme Court declined a legal bid to halt his sentence. However, witnesses said Smith did not die straight away and took several minutes to lose consciousness.
