Here are the latest images we're seeing from Kyiv following overnight Russian strikes on Ukraine's capital.

Officials reported two people, a man and a woman, were killed in Bilohorodka, located on the outskirts of the city.

Overnight strikes: Port infrastructure damaged in Odesa

As ever, we're getting a fuller picture of Russia's overnight attacks on Ukraine as the morning continues.

Oleh Kiper, governor of Ukraine's southern Odesa region, reports that a Russian drone attack there has damaged residential, social and port infrastructure.

"Unfortunately, three people were injured. One person was hospitalised, and the other victims were provided with assistance on the spot," he said.

Elsewhere, officials in the Zaporizhzhia region say one person was inured as a result of "Russian shelling" on a regional centre.

Starmer discusses Abu Dhabi peace talks with Zelenskyy

Keir Starmer spoke with Volodymyr Zelenskyy yesterday afternoon, a Downing Street ‍spokesperson says.

The two leaders discussed progress made during recent US-Russia-Ukraine peace talks in ‍Abu Dhabi and agreed on the need ‌for a just and lasting ‌peace, according to the statement.

They also spoke about ongoing Russian strikes affecting Ukraine's energy infrastructure, including the "desperate situations many families face, including no heating or electricity, during freezing winter temperatures".

Almost 150 Russian drones fired at Ukraine overnight, air force says

Ukraine's air force says Russia launched 147 drones and missiles at the country during its overnight attacks.

Of those, it said one missile strike and 36 drone strikes were recorded at 22 separate locations.

"The attack is ongoing, several enemy drones are in the airspace. Follow safety rules," it adds.

Pro-Ukraine partisans disrupt power to Russian military plant, group claims

Members of the pro-Ukrainian partisan group Atesh claim they sabotaged an electrical substation in Russia's Udmurt Republic, disrupting power supply to a nearby military‑industrial plant.

It says an operative within the group damaged equipment at the substation located on the north end of the city of Izhevsk, which serves as the capital of Udmertia.

An ensuing power outage "partially cut power" to the plant, which Atesh says is used by Russia's military in the production of weapons and heavy equipment for its war in Ukraine.

"While the Kremlin demands an increase in the pace of production of ammunition and equipment, ATESH is turning off the switch at their factories."

Paste BN could not verify these claims at the time of publication.

For context: The Atesh movement regularly commits sabotage attacks on Russian territory and in Russian-occupied areas of Ukraine.

In October, partisans reported a sabotage operation against railway infrastructure in Russia's Rostov region. The group said it destroyed a traffic control cabinet, delaying the transport of military personnel and supplies to the front.

In pictures: Emergency crews respond to Kyiv attack

Here are the latest images from Ukraine's capital city following overnight Russian strikes.

As we've reported, officials say two people were killed in the southern Bilohorodka area of the city after a Russian drone strike.

Four people - including two young children - were also injured in the attack, Ukraine's State Emergency Service said.

Zelenskyy denounces Russian strike on passenger train which killed five

A Russian drone strike on a passenger train in northeastern Ukraine killed five people, prosecutors said, in an attack denounced as terrorism by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Prosecutors said fragments of five bodies had been found at the scene of the strike ‍on the train by a village in Kharkiv. Images posted online showed at least two carriages in flames next to a snow-covered rail bed.

"In any country, a drone strike on a civilian train would be considered in exactly the same way - purely as terrorism," Zelenskyy wrote on Telegram last night.

The attack came hours after Russian drones had hammered the southern city of Odesa, killing three people and wounding 25.

Two killed near Kyiv after Russian strikes, Ukraine says

We're starting this morning with reports of an overnight Russian missile and drone attack on various regions of Ukraine, including Kyiv and its surrounding areas.

Explosions were reportedly first heard in Ukraine's capital around 1.26am (11pm UK time), with local authorities reporting that air defence systems were activated to intercept incoming Russian drones.

Drone debris was reported falling in a southern district of the city, where the windows of a residential building were damaged, and a fire broke out on the roof of a high-rise building.

Kyiv's governor said on Telegram that two people, a man and a woman, were killed in Bilohorodka, located on the outskirts of the capital.

Several other people were also treated by paramedics but did not need hospital treatment, he added.

According to the officials in the central city of Dnipropetrovsk, a 46-year-old man was killed following overnight strikes in the Sinelnikivsk region.

Ukraine's air force also warned of missiles approaching cities including Kryvyi Rih and Mykolaiv. Drones were also seen approaching Odesa.

Trump: Good things happening on Ukraine-Russia negotiations

Donald Trump struck an optimistic tone last night as he left the White House, telling reporters that "very good things are happening" in negotiations aimed at ending the Ukraine war.

Russian, Ukrainian and US officials met in Abu Dhabi at the weekend, the first trilateral talks since the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

The US president routinely boasts about ending eight wars - though analysts say these claims are inaccurate - but an end to the four-year Ukraine conflict has alluded him in the first year of his second presidency.

Before his return to the White House, Trump said he would be able to end the war in "one day" but later claimed he'd said that "in jest", despite repeating it publicly dozens of times.
