Three-year-old boy has surgery after Staffordshire Bull Terrier-type dog bites his face in Irvine
Officers from Police Scotland are trying to trace the dog and its owner following Thursday's attack.

A three-year-old boy has had surgery after being bitten in the face by a Staffordshire Bull Terrier-type dog.
Police Scotland has appealed for witnesses to the incident in Irvine at around 6pm on Thursday.
The boy was approached by a dog without an owner in Leven Place in the Castlepark area of the town, the force said in a statement.
The animal, described as a cream-coloured "Staffordshire Bull Terrier-type of dog", bit him in the face.
He was taken to nearby University Hospital Crosshouse, where he had surgery for facial injuries.
The dog was last seen running off in Leven Place.

Inspector Lisa Thomson said police wanted to trace the dog and its owner as quickly as possible and asked anyone who saw what happened or could help identify either to get in touch.
