The Prince of Wales has written a foreword for the memoir of the late rugby league player Rob Burrow's widow.

Lindsey Burrow has written the book about her life with the former sports star and motor neurone disease (MND) campaigner.

The book, titled Take Care: A Memoir Of Love, Family & Never Giving Up, is due to be published in February next year.

Rob Burrow, who was diagnosed with MND in 2019, died in June aged 41.

A children's book written by him and his former teammate Kevin Sinfield was published last month, which Sinfield hopes will be his friend's "legacy piece".

'Rob got to see book before he died'

After Burrow's death, Prince William paid a personal tribute to him and called him a "legend of rugby league".

He made nearly 500 appearances for Leeds Rhinos during a 16-year career, which came to an end in 2017.

Following his diagnosis, Burrow threw himself into campaigning to raise awareness of MND.

William presented Burrow and Sinfield with CBEs for services to MND awareness in January.

The prince said Burrow had "taught us 'in a world full of adversity, we must dare to dream'".

During his meeting with the two former rugby league players in Leeds, William met Burrow's wife Lindsey.

He was said to be moved by how she was handling the situation with strength and positivity.

The book's publicity says it "explores the deepest reserves of resilience, personal sacrifice and hope that Lindsey Burrow exhibited".
