Police have searched London Central Mosque after a man was stabbed to death nearby.
Suspects fled the scene after the man was attacked in Elmton Court on Cunningham Place, close to Regent's Park.
Officers flanked the mosque's perimeter, and a helicopter circled overhead.
Scotland Yard said no arrests have been made and officers are continuing to search for the suspects.
Police were called to Cunningham Place at 6.15pm and attended along with the London Ambulance Service.
The victim, believed to be in his early 20s, died after being taken to hospital.
A neighbour said she "looked out of the window at around 6.30pm and I saw him on the floor - he was already getting CPR".
Scotland Yard said the incident was not believed to be terror-related.
Bahir Moulana, 39, said police were pushing people back as he approached the mosque.
Following the recent attacks at two mosques in New Zealand, it gave him the "jitters", he said, adding: "I saw all the blue lights and my heart was in my mouth."
In a statement, London Central Mosque said: "All staff and attendees to the Mosque are safe and our prayers are with the victim and his family. We will look forward to seeing you all at Friday prayers In Sha Allah."
The Labour MP for Westminster North, Karen Buck, said: "Deeply saddened to hear this awful news.
"Police have been in contact with me and we await further details."
