A Palestinian man has been charged with the murder of a British student stabbed to death in Jerusalem.
Hannah Bladon, 20, was attacked while travelling on a light rail train near Old City last month, an area which was packed as Christians marked Good Friday and Jews celebrated Passover.
Israel's justice ministry said 57-year-old Jamil Tamimi has been charged with her murder, adding that he identified Miss Bladon as a "weak victim who wouldn't be able to resist".
A day before the attack Tamimi was released from a psychiatric hospital in Jerusalem, according to Haaretz.
An indictment says the 57-year-old decided to stab someone to death after his sons refused to visit him, the newspaper added.
Israel's Shin Bet security agency said Tamimi suffered with mental health problems and had previously tried to take his own life.
An off-duty policeman travelling on the light rail train overpowered the attacker with the help of another passenger.
Miss Bladon, who was stabbed seven times, died two hours after being taken to hospital.
The Birmingham University religious studies student was part way through an exchange programme with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
Rothberg International School said she had been taking classes in bible studies, archaeology and Hebrew during the exchange programme.
It described her as "an inquisitive and adventurous student who made the most of her opportunity to learn and experience life in Israel".
Miss Bladon's family said they were "devastated" by the "senseless and tragic attack".
They said: "Hannah was the most caring, sensitive and compassionate daughter you could ever wish for.
"She was driven and passionate and her death leaves so much promise unfulfilled."
Tamimi has been found fit to stand trial but a complete psychiatric evaluation has not yet been carried out, Haaretz reports.
Before Miss Bladon's death, a psychiatric report said Tamimi had grown increasingly aggressive and violent over the course of the previous month, it added.
