Police officers in Northern Ireland have been targeted in an explosive attack.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) said the explosion took place in the Townsend Street area of Strabane, Co Tyrone, at about 8:30pm on Tuesday.
Superintendent Gordon McCalmont said officers were "unable to go into specifics of the incident at this stage" but said he was "confident in saying that we are incredibly lucky that the lives of officers and other members of the community were not lost last night".
He added: "We appreciate the understanding and patience of local residents while we carry out our inquiries and would appeal for anyone with information about suspicious activity in the area to contact us."
Some residents have been asked to leave their homes by police while they carry out inquiries into the incident.
