A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 15-year-old was stabbed to death in Manchester's Moss Side.

The victim was found with stab wounds early on Monday evening following a "disturbance" involving "a number of people", Greater Manchester Police said.

Another 15-year-old boy has been arrested and remains in custody.

Section 60 powers are in place in the area until 5.20pm on Tuesday, which allow officers to stop and search people.

Chief Superintendent David Meeney, from the City of Manchester district, described the incident as "an appalling act".
