Missing rape suspect arrested in Spain after two-year Police Scotland search

A Scottish man accused of rape who disappeared almost two years ago faces being extradited to the UK after being arrested in Spain.
James Clacher, of Bellshill in North Lanarkshire, was reported missing after last being seen in the nearby town of Airdrie in May 2022.
Clacher was due to stand trial accused of raping two women, with the case put on ice due to his disappearance.
On Wednesday, Police Scotland announced that Clacher had been traced the day before.

A force spokesperson said: "A 55-year-old man was arrested on an international arrest warrant in Spain on Tuesday 21 May 2024.
"We are liaising with partner agencies, and he will be subject to extradition proceedings."
