Mike Phillips: Ex-Wales rugby star gets driving ban after being three times over the alcohol limit

Rugby pundit and ex-Wales international Mike Phillips has been banned from driving after he was found to be three times over the legal alcohol limit.
The 41-year-old, whose full name is William Michael Phillips, was handed a 25-month ban on Wednesday.
The former scrum-half made 94 appearances for Wales between 2003 and 2015 and also featured in the British and Irish Lions tours in 2009 and 2013.
At club level, Phillips played for the Scarlets, Cardiff Blues and the Ospreys before he joined French sides Bayonne and Racing 92.
He ended his rugby career with the Sale Sharks in 2017, but briefly came out of retirement later that year to join the Scarlets for one game to cover injury.
Since retiring, Phillips has been a regular pundit on rugby matches, including World Cup coverage last year on both ITV and S4C.
He pleaded guilty to driving an Audi A4 on the road with 108 micrograms of alcohol per 100mm of breath.
The legal limit is 35 micrograms of alcohol per 100mm of breath.
The incident happened on 7 July 2024 on the A483 at Llanwrtyd Wells in Powys.

At Llandrindod Wells Magistrates Court, Phillips was fined £1,153 and was also ordered to pay a surcharge of £461 and court costs of £85.
The ban will be reduced by 25 weeks if he completes an awareness course.
