Man detained over death of elderly woman in London

Officers were called to an address in Kingston, southwest London, on Friday morning where a woman in her 80s was found and pronounced dead at the scene.

A man in his 80s has been arrested on suspicion of murder after an elderly woman who was known to him was found dead in southwest London. 

Officers were called to Raeburn Avenue, Tolworth in Kingston at around 9.30am on Friday where they found a woman in her 80s who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man was arrested at the address on suspicion of murder and remains in custody, Metropolitan Police said. Officers remain at the scene.

The woman's next of kin have been informed of her death and are being supported by specialist officers.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
