An 80-year-old man has been arrested after a 95-year-old woman was tied up and threatened during an attempted robbery, police said.
Officers arrested the elderly man on suspicion of attempted robbery and false imprisonment at an address in Worsley, Greater Manchester, on Thursday, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said.
He remains in custody for questioning.
Police previously said a man had made his way into the elderly woman's house by offering to clean her windows, but detectives now think he asked about bin collection day.
It is believed the man then entered the property in Little Hulton in Salford, Greater Manchester, tied the woman's hands together and asked for cash and her purse.
The man was disturbed when another woman, who knew the victim, arrived at the house, where she was grabbed, before the man fled.
No injuries were reported. The victim is being supported by officers.

"I am glad that we now have someone arrested in connection with this incident and enquiries remain ongoing. I would ask the community to not speculate in order to allow the criminal justice process to run its proper course.
"I want to thank everyone who has shared our appeals and got in touch with us - your assistance is truly appreciated and helps us provide the best service possible."
