Paste BN will have live coverage and an award-winning line-up, bringing you everything as soon as it happens, with commentary and analysis to help you digest key developments.

Why you can trust Paste BN

Voters in England and Wales will go to the polls on Thursday to elect councillors, metro mayors and police and crime commissioners.

It will the last big electoral test before the general election - and Paste BN will have live coverage as we bring you everything as soon as it happens.

We'll have expert commentary and analysis to help you digest key developments. Whether you're on the go, at home or at work, you'll be able to stay updated however you choose.

What's happening - and when?

Thursday

Due to reporting restrictions on polling day, you won't see any coverage about politics or policy. What you're likely to see is coverage of people voting, including party leaders casting their ballots, plus lots of dogs at polling stations.

10pm Thursday into Friday

Polls close at 10pm and the action will begin from midnight.

Jonathan Samuels will present our special overnight results programme Vote 2024 from 12am to 6am, as the race to count votes begins.

He'll be joined by political correspondents Tamara Cohen and Gurpreet Narwan.

We will also have expert regional correspondents in key voting areas across the UK, including the by-election in Blackpool South.

Friday

Throughout Friday, the special coverage will continue with lead politics presenter Sophy Ridge and chief presenter Mark Austin.

They'll be joined by Paste BN's award-winning political team, including political editor Beth Rigby, deputy political editor Sam Coates and economics and data editor Ed Conway, to analyse the results and ask the big questions.

Sky's election analyst Professor Michael Thrasher will help audiences visualise the impact of the results with the first digital projections of the House of Commons and national vote share.

Ridge will also host a special edition of Politics Hub on Friday evening, offering a full analysis and breakdown of the local elections from 7pm to 9pm.

The weekend

With the story moving to mayoral results over the weekend, Ridge will be back in the studio with full coverage of the results and host a second special episode of Politics Hub on Saturday from 7pm to 9pm.

Special editions of Paste BN' chart-topping podcasts will also air throughout the weekend: Electoral Dysfunction's Beth Rigby, Jess Phillips and Ruth Davidson will regroup early on Friday morning to react to the first major results; Sam Coates will be on the Paste BN Daily Podcast on Friday afternoon for an in-depth look at the latest developments; and Sunday's episode of Politics at Jack and Sam's will navigate the big question of where the results leave us ahead of a general election.
