Mr Cairns, 24, was pronounced dead at the scene after emergency services were alerted to a seriously injured man at a property on 9 May.

Police Scotland have arrested a suspect in connection with the death of a man as part of a murder investigation.

John Cairns, 24, was found seriously injured at a property in Shiel Gardens, Shotts, North Lanarkshire, at around 8.20am on Thursday 9 May.

Emergency services attended, but Mr Cairns was pronounced dead at the scene.

A murder probe was launched following a post-mortem examination.
