A suspect has appeared in court charged with the murder of a man in Glasgow.

Police Scotland launched a murder inquiry after officers discovered the body of James Jarvis, 55, at a house on Monar Street at about 9.20am last Wednesday.

On Friday, the force issued an appeal for information as part of efforts to establish Mr Jarvis's final movements.

William Sharp, 38, was arrested on Saturday and charged in connection with the death.

He appeared before Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday and made no plea to nine separate charges.

Sharp has been accused of murder; assault to injury; two counts of driving without a licence; two counts of driving without insurance; taking a motor vehicle without authority; theft; and theft of a motor vehicle.

Sharp, who is from Glasgow, was remanded in custody and is due back in the dock within the next week.
