Horror fall on rock-climbing trip with son leaves man with 'number of injuries'

A father and son's rock-climbing expedition ended with an emergency callout after the dad was knocked unconscious in a horror fall.
The duo had been scaling the Overhang Wall at Traprain Law in East Lothian on Tuesday afternoon when the man fell from his stance.
Border Search and Rescue Unit (BSARU) said the man, 57, "swung for some distance into the rock, knocking himself out and sustaining a number of other injuries".
BSARU said the son, 16, did a "valiant job" in lowering his dad to safety.
Two other climbers, who had been enjoying their first trip to the hill, responded to shouts for assistance and helped raise the alarm.

Tap hereLocal members of BSARU were deployed immediately, while the Scottish Ambulance Service despatched a special operations response team (SORT).
The man was moved to a SORT ATV and onwards across fields to a waiting ambulance before being taken to hospital.

A BSARU spokesperson said: "Thanks to swift responses from all involved, the casualty received help very quickly.
"We wish the casualty a speedy recovery, and as always, great to work with our colleagues in the Scottish Ambulance Service and Police Scotland."
This was BSARU's second father and son callout in the space of a few days.
On Sunday, a 54-year-old man and his 17-year-old son had to be rescued during a camping trip after suffering from heat exhaustion when they ran out of water on a hike in the Scottish Borders.
