A five year-old-girl has received a new bicycle that was donated to her after own was stolen.
Emily was said to have been "devastated" when she woke up several weeks ago to find her bike was not sitting outside her home in southeast London.
PC Ayling and PC Gayson with the Metropolitan Police were dispatched to the scene, but were unable to find either Emily's bicycle or the thieves who took it.
The officers went to a local Halfords branch in Bromley to find a new bike instead.
But according to a police statement, the Halfords manager decided to donate a new bike after hearing Emily's story, leaving the five-year-old "absolutely thrilled".
It added: "The officers and Emily were totally blown away by Halfords' generosity.
"After a distressing morning, it just took one simple act of kindness to turn Emily's frown upside down."
A Halfords spokesperson said: "We are delighted we could help Emily and we hope she enjoys her new set of wheels."
The stolen bicycle has not been located, and no arrests have been made.
