A manhunt for a convicted murderer is over after police found him in the Belfast area.

David McCord was previously described by police in Northern Ireland as being "unlawfully at large" after allegedly absconding from custody.

However, he was located on Sunday and returned to prison, according to a spokesman.

The 54-year-old is serving a life sentence, reportedly for killing his girlfriend in 2003.

He was said to be in the custody of prison staff at a property in the Crumlin Road area of north Belfast on Friday when he disappeared.
