Two young children who went missing after being left at home in Islington have been taken to a police station in east London.

Two-year-old Tiffarah Paul-Wright and her brother Aiale, four, are currently being cared for by officers after they were taken to the station at about midday on Tuesday.

The Metropolitan Police said the children's mother was taken to hospital for medical treatment at about 10pm on Monday.

Officers then became aware she had two young children and immediately began enquiries to locate them at her home address.

When they arrived there was no trace of the siblings. They were believed to be in the care of an adult, who was known to the children, and attempts were made to trace them.

No one has been arrested over the incident.
