Chancellor Rishi Sunak has a new puppy.

Nova, a Labrador retriever, has taken up residence at Number 11 Downing Street.

The chancellor introduced his new dog with a tweet on Wednesday evening.

Nova will have to get used to the other animals already living in Downing Street - Dilyn - the prime minister and his wife's dog - and Larry the Cat - Number 10's resident feline.

While Larry has been living at Number 10 since 2011, Dilyn - a Jack Russell-cross - only arrived in 2019.

Nova already appears to be popular, with Mr Sunak's tweet receiving thousands of likes and re-tweets within hours.
