A child is held by police after a stabbing that left a 14-year-old boy in hospital with multiple injuries.

An 11-year-old boy has been arrested after a teenager was stabbed in north London.

The boy is being held on suspicion of attempted murder following the incident in Islington on Sunday evening.

The 14-year-old victim was found with multiple stab wounds.

He was taken by air ambulance to an east London hospital, where family members are at his bedside.

Officers said they are awaiting an update on his condition.

Police said they are "retain(ing) an open mind as to motive" and enquiries are ongoing.
