A woman has denied charges alleging she used a drug with intent to procure a miscarriage during a COVID lockdown.
Bethany Cox, 22, from Eaglescliffe, Stockton-on-Tees, appeared at Teesside Crown Court in Middlesbrough on Tuesday, faced with two counts.
The first related to allegedly taking a drug with intent to destroy the life of a child that was capable of being born alive on 6 July 2020, in the knowledge it would lead to the termination of the pregnancy.
The second alleged offence was administering a poison with intent to procure a miscarriage, between 2 July and 7 July 2020.
Restrictions of the first UK lockdown were eased on 4 July 2020.

Cox was followed into the court building by supporters, and the public gallery was almost full for the 15-minute hearing.
She was granted unconditional bail by the judge, Paul Watson KC.
