Stars are getting red carpet ready for the UK's biggest film awards ceremony tonight, with Olivia Colman the front runner to be crowned BAFTA Queen.

Dark comedy drama The Favourite, which stars the British actress as Queen Anne, is favourite by name and nature, leading the nominations race with 12 nods, including best film.

Colman is tipped to win best actress, with the nomination coming after her success at the Golden Globes and the Critics Choice awards. She is up against Lady Gaga, Glenn Close, Melissa McCarthy and Viola Davis.

Her co-stars Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz are both nominated in the best supporting actress category, while Yorgos Lanthimos is up for best director.

Stars due to attend the ceremony include Margot Robbie, Bradley Cooper, Christian Bale and Cate Blanchett, as well as Colman, Close and Weisz. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are also expected to make a royal appearance on the red carpet.

Lady Gaga will be performing at the Grammys in LA, with the clash meaning she is unable to attend the BAFTA ceremony.

A Star Is Born, in which the singer stars alongside Cooper, is up for seven awards, tying with Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody - a big winner at the Golden Globes - and Roma, while Vice has six and BlacKkKlansman five.
